Report a data issue

If a school name, Ofsted grade, attendance figure, or address looks wrong, send us:

  • The school URN (seven digits, shown on GIAS and on our school cards)
  • The field that looks incorrect (for example persistent absence or Ofsted date)
  • The page URL on Schoolchecker.uk
  • A link to the official source you believe is correct (GIAS, Ofsted report, or DfE table)

We fix import and display bugs in our pipeline. We do not override published government statistics without noting the change. See methodology for how missing data is shown.

Example message (copy and edit):

Subject: Data correction — URN 1234567

Hello,

The persistent absence figure for Example Primary School (URN 1234567) on
https://www.schoolchecker.uk/area/wf2/
shows 8.2% but GIAS lists 9.1% for 2023/24:

Thanks

Feedback and feature ideas

Tell us what would make school research easier. We are especially interested in whether compare columns, map filters, or council browse pages helped you before an application deadline. We cannot promise a timeline for every suggestion, but we read notes carefully.

Privacy requests

For access, correction, or deletion requests under UK data protection law, email hello@schoolchecker.uk with the subject line Privacy request. We use minimal personal data (see our privacy policy). Most information is stored in your browser (home postcode and shortlist), which you can clear locally.

Press and licensing

Journalists may quote public statistics with attribution to the underlying government source. For questions about bulk data use or screenshots of Schoolchecker.uk, email us before republication of large tables.

What happens next

We triage messages in the order they arrive. Data corrections with a URN and official link are usually quickest to verify and often get a reply within 3–5 working days. Feature requests are logged for planning even when we cannot reply in depth. We do not share your email with schools or councils.

What we cannot help with

  • Whether your child will get a place at a particular school
  • Appeals, waiting lists, or late applications (contact your local authority)
  • Independent schools, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland
  • Legal disputes with a school or council

For admissions, use your council website and the school's own admissions page. Many authorities publish booklets each autumn for entry the following September.

School and area figures come from open government data (GIAS, DfE, Ofsted, ONS). They may lag the latest release and are not admissions advice. Always check with the school and your local authority before applying.
